received the coveted Tre Bicchieri award from Gambero Rosso, Italy's top wine
Planted in 2001 at roughly 700 meters ASL, Podere Mello is located in Gaiole and is the highest-altitude vineyard in the Chianti Classico DOCG. The soil is Macigno, a well-draining sandstone that imparts finesse and elegance to this cru's Sangiovese. Mello was planted by renowned organic agronomist Ruggero Mazzilli and is a certified organic and biodynamic vineyard.
