Pier Luigi attracted enologist Michel Rolland, famous for high quality, sensual, full-bodied wines, to consult with Tolaini Estate. Rolland was taken by Pier Luigi's personal commitment to excellence and, most importantly, the potential of the vineyards and winery. At the beginning, the consulting agronomist for the estate was the well-respected Tuscan Andrea Paoletti. Together Pier Luigi and Michel have formed a team of four young exceptional enologists/agronomists. Each member of the young Tolaini enological team has graduated from enology or agronomy school and has worked in varied wine regions allowing their international experience to meld with the vision and terroir of Tolaini.
Today Luca D'Attoma is the consulting oenologist and his hand is apparent starting with the 2015 vintage of Tolaini. Ruggero Mazzilli is Tolaini's consulting agronomist and is based in Gaiole in Chianti where he is the owner and founder of SPEVIS (The Experimental Station for Sustainable Viticulture). SPEVIS works with the best scientific research institutes to find new solutions to practical vineyard issues by following the principles of organic agriculture and respectful environmental practices.
With Ruggero and D'Attoma heading up the team, Tolaini will continue to cultivate the maximum expression of Chianti Classico terroir while farming organically and sustainably.
On top of the capable team in the winery, Luca Mittica is the Director of Sales for the winery. Alberto Fusi is the General Manager and Lia Tolaini-Banville, is in charge of marketing and the North American market.
